NYC: Lincoln Center honors far-left activist who called Osama bin Laden ‘one of the people that I admire’

Yuri Kochiyama was clearly a far-left activist and a Marxist, who admired Osama because of their shared hatred for America, Judeo-Christian values, and Western civilization.

She endured Japanese American internment during World War II and later helped convince the government to apologize and repay the victims, she opposed U.S. involvement in Vietnam and befriended Malcolm X – all before she said she “admired” Usama bin Laden following the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks.

As police departments around the country report increasing hate crimes against Asian Americans, New York City’s Lincoln Center hosted a pop-up performance to honor the civil rights activist Yuri Kochiyama on what would have been her 100th birthday this week during Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

The California native spent most of her adult life in the Big Apple. But even though she adopted New York as her home, in a 2003 interview with The Objector magazine, she praised the man responsible for a horrific attack that killed 2,606 of her unsuspecting neighbors on a sunny Tuesday morning.

“I’m glad that you are curious why I consider Usama bin Laden as one of the people that I admire,” she told the interviewer. “To me, he is in the category of Malcolm X, Che Guevara, Patrice Lumumba, Fidel Castro, all leaders that I admire. They had much in common. Besides being strong leaders who brought consciousness to their people, they all had severe dislike for the U.S. government and those who held power in the U.S.”…

She rightly put “Usama bin Laden ,Malcolm X, Che Guevara , Patrice Lumumba, and Fidel Castro” together all used terrorist , using violence to get their way , advocated killing anyone who opposed them. She could have rounded out her hero worshiping and added Stalin to the pack .As long as they hate Judo-Christian values , and are anti -American ,they are all heroes in her book !

      • Otter’s comments about women being naïve about jihad-terrorism should not be left un-nuanced. It is actually TRUE and MEASURABLE that women generally are less skeptical about vicious movements (such as Islam) and fail to recognize the dangers of jihad to women. In the US Protestant and Roman Catholic white males are generally MUCH BETTER informed about Islam and more skeptical than other groups.

        Having said that, the women who are skeptical about Islam are making the same, valuable, intellectual contributions to counterjihad as men.

        Islam is an ideology and men and women will have to attack Islamic, theocratic supremacism IDEOLOGICALLY. This is the most important fight in the world today if we want world peace.

        • Yes I admire women like Pamela Geller, Nonie Darwish, Brigette Gabriel, Candace Owens and many more like them. They put many men to shame with regard to their knowledge, conviction and courage in speaking truth against the evil of Islam and/or Leftism. Thank God for them.

      Actually, generally OTTER here rants about how *white* women are the biggest threat, and so they have to be prevented from voting, getting an education, and working outside the home.

      He has also said that they have to be forced to breed–in other words, raped.

      Note that Yuri Kochiyama is not a white woman.

      And if you think this sounds a lot like the agenda of Islam, you are not wrong.

        While seriously sensible people look at the NOBLE, RATIONAL RESPONSE of a person who is faced with adversity and injustice, the LEFTARDS use victimized people FOR PROPAGANDA PURPOSE.

        A person who has suffered injustice and has countered it in a truly NOBLE, HUMANE manner is the one who should be honored. Ghandi and Martin Luther King fought injustice with PEACEFUL PROTEST and brotherly love.

      • Lincoln Center is named for Lincoln Square. Lincoln Square was so named in 1906, but there is apparently no record of whom it was named for. (Possibly President Lincoln, but perhaps someone both more recent and more local).

  8. I don’t understand why people living in the U.S. and who hate it here just don’t leave and go someplace else. I assume this woman’s parents immigrated from Japan to the U.S. because they felt life would be better for them and their children here. They left their original home behind and started over in another country on the opposite side of the world. If she came to think that her parents had chosen the wrong country to call their new home why didn’t she just do the same as they did and go elsewhere? She could have gone back to Japan. But no, instead she chose to stay and whine about how bad a country her parents had chosen. If you hate the U.S. then move to a country you think you will like better. None of us who actually like living in the U.S. will stop you.

      • Certainly not directly. Lincoln Center *does* present some pretty impressive art, theater, and music–along with a lot of fairly stupid claptrap–and they are sadly as riddled with “political correcness” as are most arts groups these days.
