The first letter gained widespread attention as well as a rebuke from French President Emmanuel Macron for warning that appeasement of “radical Islam” was leading to “civil war.” It was signed by 25 retired Generals and “1000 officials of different rank and files in the military, police and gendarmerie,” who stated that they could not remain “indifferent” and “passive spectators” under the current circumstances.
The second letter has gained over 93,000 signatures, including an undetermined number of active military personnel.
“Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin, a close ally of Macron, slammed the letter as a ‘crude manoeuvre’ and accused its anonymous signatories of lacking ‘courage.'” But given the threats by French leader Macron to “punish the generals” over the first letter, the anonymity is clearly for the sake of self-preservation.
France’s mainstream Muslim groups accused the government of “Islamophobia” in the face of its crackdown on “Islamic separatism,” which followed the beheading of schoolteacher Samuel Paty for “blasphemy.” Condemnation of the Muhammad cartoons (which Paty had shown in class) and of France came from as far away as Egypt, where Al Azhar in Cairo condemned Macron’s plan for fighting “Islamic separatism” as an “explicit call for racism and hate.” But Macron came out in defense of the “right to blaspheme.” In Britain, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, also came out in support of this right to blaspheme.
Let’s hope that France is at the crossroads of real change. The government has carefully maneuvered in a manner calculated to balance its popularity (especially in light of the rise of populist leader Marine Le Pen) with appeasement of Muslim groups. Clearly a significant element of the French military has had enough of this.

A group of serving French soldiers has published a new open letter in a conservative magazine, warning President Emmanuel Macron that the “survival” of France is at stake after he made “concessions” to Islamism.
The letter posted on the Valeurs Actuelles website late on Sunday echoes the tone of a similar letter published by the same magazine last month, which also warned that a civil conflict was brewing.
Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin, a close ally of Macron, slammed the letter as a “crude manoeuvre” and accused its anonymous signatories of lacking “courage”.
The previous letter, signed by a handful of officers and some 20 semi-retired generals, sparked a furore in France, with the prime minister calling it an unacceptable interference and France’s top general vowing that those behind it would be punished.
It is not clear how many people are behind the current letter or what their ranks are.
In contrast to the previous letter, it is also open to be signed by the public, with Valeurs Actuelles saying more than 93,000 had done so by Monday morning.
“We are not talking about extending your mandates or conquering others. We are talking about the survival of our country, the survival of your country,” said the letter, which was addressed to Macron and his cabinet.
The authors described themselves as active-duty soldiers from the younger generation of the military, a so-called “generation of fire” that had seen active service.
“They have offered up their lives to destroy the Islamism that you have made concessions to on our soil.”
They claimed also to have served in the Sentinelle security operation within France launched after a wave of jihadist attacks in 2015.
They observed that for some religious communities “France means nothing but an object of sarcasm, contempt or even hatred”.
It added: “If a civil war breaks out, the military will maintain order on its own soil […] civil war is brewing in France and you know it perfectly well.”
‘Is this courage?
The letter comes in a febrile political atmosphere ahead of the 2022 elections when Macron’s main challenger is expected to again be the far-right leader Marine Le Pen.Analysts say Macron has tacked to the right in recent months to prevent Le Pen from exploiting a series of attacks in late 2020 blamed on Islamist extremists who recently immigrated to France.
“I believe that when you are in the military you don’t do this kind of thing in hiding,” Darmanin told BFM television. “These people are anonymous. Is this courage? To be anonymous?”
Former president Francois Hollande weighed in on the debate, expressing bewilderment that such sentiments could be expressed by serving soldiers.
“How can we suggest that the army today could have such feelings and a desire to question the very principles of the Republic?” he told France Inter radio.
Prime Minister Jean Castex had labelled the rare intervention in politics by military figures in last month’s letter “an initiative against all of our republican principles, of honour and the duty of the army”…..

The Brit military has had and will have more personnel cutbacks, cant see how we are a Major power any more, yes Hitech makes up, but we have a very small boots on ground number these days. We have 1 modern aircraft carrier, is it ready for active service yet? Cant see how fast jets can tackle urban warfare in densely populated cities. We spend a lot on defense, but the personnel numbers are low.

Macron has been very strict about freedom of expression, but the generals do recognize that he has inherited a disastrous situation in the no-go-zones. The alarm bells have been sounded for years, long before Macron’s election.

You may be right. My thoughts don’t usually run to “military coup” when looking for solutions to political problems; but that may be France’s only hope, unless Marine Le Pen can be voted in, with the power to make some really sweeping changes.

It is great to see these military personnel speaking up on this issue of the enemy ideology, Islam, and the crap Muslims bring to any non-Muslim country that they are allowed to infest. For far too long, many people, including most politicians, have deluded themselves and spoken a load of politically correct garbage about how Muslims are going to fit in with our western societies. I hope that more and more people in all our countries wake up, face the truth and speak up and tell the unvarnished truth about Islam, which can never fit peacefully into any non-Muslim country. I hope Le Pen becomes the next leader of France and introduces the tough policies needed there.

Check Burry, when I read these reports about how things are going in France or the UK or Sweden, I am very pleased to be living in Australia. We do have plenty of trouble from the Muslims out here, who began to arrive here in the 1970s, but I feel we are nowhere near as badly off as many countries in Europe and I think we might be able to avoid the problems people are facing there. I hope so at any rate.

I wish the French people well in being there in the frontline and I do hope France is completely successful in taking on the Muslim invaders who are obviously causing all the usual trouble that they always cause. My own preference is for that approach that the Hungarians, the Poles, the Czechs and the Slovakians have, which is to refuse to let Muslims in in the first place. It doesn’t seem to happen much and certainly Australia has not been wise enough to shut Muslims out. Anyway, good luck to France in dealing with this poisonous ideology, Islam.

Well, one should not exaggerate it all. I would say that the politicians cannot really do anything very extreme the way China or Iran might do That won’t do in our society. So why talk about it. It would be good to have a moratorium on immigration from countries known for terrorism. But probably it will not be politically possible to do this very strictly. There was a time in the past when Britain tried to make an end to mass migration from its former colonies. But that time has passed, and now there is more immigration than before. And even from countries that were never colonies. So, being realistic about what is really possible is a necessity.

However, I don’t believe ANY politician in the west will take the necessary steps to stop the invasion of our lands by the moslems.
Sure, they’ll pay lip-service to the idea, make some lying, cozening speeches that don’t say anything, and assure us that they’re listening and going to act, and then they will do nothing.
