A decision with consequences that likely won’t be felt for a few years, but they will be felt.
“French mayor against the building of a church by the Pius Brothers,” translated from “Französischer Bürgermeister gegen Bau einer Kirche der Piusbrüder,” Die Tagespost, April 28, 2021 (thanks to Medforth):
Elected Mayor of Meylan, east of Grenoble in the French department of Isère a year ago, according to the French magazine “Valeurs actuelles,” the politician of the “Diverse Left” had taken it into his mind to bring to its knees the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X, a traditionalist Catholic movement, that wanted to build a church in the commune.” But the Grenoble Administrative Court ruled differently on April 15 and rejected the application to revoke a building permit previously granted by an earlier majority in the local council. The application for repeal was made in 2018 by the left-wing association “Medya,” which is close to the current mayor, Philippe Cardin.
Fraternity has been resident in the parish for 25 years
Despite this setback, the magazine continued, Cardin insisted on his negative stance and asked the state for support: “I ask for the support of the representatives of the state, the government and our parliamentarians, for our responsibility to fight against obscurantism and and all religious extremisms,” he said in a press release.
Two and a half years ago, the former mayor of the parish, Jean-Philippe Blanc, voted for the building permit for this Church of the Priestly Fraternity. Valeurs actuelles notes that this was a perfectly logical decision, since the Society of St. Pius X already maintains a priory here and a private school founded in 1992. At that time, Blanc declared: “The fraternity has been in the community for 25 years.” It was always quiet concerning them.
Open discussion of the problem of the separatism law
Even if there have never been any problems, the new mayor still wants to prohibit the building of the church. The reason he gives: “You are against freedom of belief, freedom of expression, freedom of conscience.” If this church were actually built, “these people will gather people who fuel violence and tension,” warns Cardin. The Bishop of Grenoble, Guy de Kerimel, had brought up the dispute “cautiously.”
Even if he sees no reason to “oppose the building of this church,” he sees a problematic counterpoint in this matter. In his opinion, the tug-of-war between the mayor and the Priestly Fraternity is proof of the problem of the separatism law: “This situation shows the whole vulnerability of this law. The various aspects are not clearly defined, so that politicians may be a little lacking in objectivity.”
Private school of Islamist movement approved
Recently, the mayor of the community of Albertville (19,000 inhabitants) northeast of Meylan was forced by the administrative court to approve the construction of a Muslim private school for 400 students of the Islamist movement Milli Görüs. This project was described by the department’s prefect, Pascal Bolot, as “separatist” and “oversized.”
For the mayor of Meylan, there can be no differences in the treatment between Islamist movements and a traditionalist current of the church, explains Valeurs Actuelles. “What is said in the separatism law is that the state wants to fight all those who fight the roots and values of the republic. And I believe that Civitas and the Society of St. Pius X are fighting the values of the republic,” Cardin said in an interview.
District superior of the Society laments attack on freedom of belief
Speaking to Valeurs Actuelles, Father Benoît de Jorna, the French district superior of the Society of St. Pius X, emphasized the contradictory statements of the mayor: “We are supposed to be against the freedom of belief, and at the same time they want to forbid us from a place of worship where we profess our faith. Who is against this freedom here?” In addition, Father de Jorna noted that the republic must be very vulnerable if “a small church in a province with fewer than 300 seats threatens it so much!” That is precisely the problem with this separatism law, writes the magazine, that the “tradis” would be “poured out” with the “separatist bath.”

Meanwhile the muslims stand back and laugh their heads off…

Why doesn’t Philippe Cardin just recite the shehada, adapt a mohammedan name, and get on w/ it? And like Mecca or Medina, declare his town off-limits to non-muslims?
BlackSabbath says
Soon Philippe Cardin’s own mohammadeans will accuse him of blasphemy and demand his beheading. The left likes to be in bed with islamists but it eventually gets slaughtered.

no Muslim is in favor of a secular state. They do not understand it, they do not accept it and they pressure to end it. They do not have to be jihadists, any non-jihadist Muslim wants a confessional state and therefore the French republic as such must disappear. Islam is orthodox per se, it is not necessary to classify a Muslim as ultra orthodox, all of them are, but obviously there are degrees. In the West we are stupid.

THE RED-GREEN AXIS OF EVIL speaks through Mayor Philippe Cardin! Islam must be promoted, while Christianity is simultaneously destroyed! The destruction of all French traditions and patriotism is the goal of this mayor. It is fascinating that he appeals to freedom of expression while it is HE HIMSELF who denies freedom of expression to Christians. I do not think he has a right to do so.
The mind-reading mayor Philippe Cardin projects his GUESSES into the future with regard to French traditionalists: ‘you are against freedom of belief, freedom of expression, freedom of conscience.’
Philippe Cardin is at the same time UNABLE to project into the future what MUSLIM TRADITIONALISTS will do to France.
The same complaints he raises apply to ISLAM much MORE SO! Islamic countries ALL suppress basic freedoms of KAFIRS.
But Philippe Cardin has Leftist ideological blinkers on and thus he stubbornly refuses with mule-like persistence to understand the nature of Islamic intolerance towards KAFIRS.

Scratch a “RED” & you’ll find them to be Fascist. Only interested in Totalitarianism & screw Personal & Civil Liberties. Not if, but when Marie Le Pen is elected as President next year, she is going to have her work cut out in getting rid of all of these French government Officials in thrall to Islam. She can deport them along with the Muslims who want to tear France down. .

JCA Reid, Le Pen will not be deporting French citizens, no matter their views.

The atheistic left generally loathe religion and especially Christianity. Didn’t Marx call religion the opium of the people or something along those lines? They seem to support islam because Islam hates our western way of life and the Marxist left are exactly the same. Whenever I hear about how authorities have approved Muslim crap, as in this report, I wonder how much money has changed hands, how much of a bribe these scumbags have accepted from the Muslim mob in order to get them to approve the Muslim buildings. I expect that that is what is going on with these incidents. Anyway, the authorities who suck up to the Muslim invaders are traitorous scum, sell out merchants who are supporting the Muslim enemy.

France: Mayor bans building of church while allowing construction of Islamic school run by pro-Sharia organization
……………………….
In what bizarre world does a Catholic church “gather people who fuel violence and tension”, but an orthodox Islamic school does not?
tim gallagher says
Spot on, gravenimage. That is one hell of a fantasy land where that is the case. Some people truly do live on another planet and that is the only way that they could think that Christians are violent and Muslims are not full of violent ideas and are not perpetrators of endless violent actions. It is absolute garbage.
