The abominable Daily Mail states: “But under Iran’s Islamic Penal Code, amputation of limbs is considered a suitable punishment for theft.”
Iran didn’t originate this. It’s from the Qur’an. “The thief, the male and the female, amputate their hands in recompense for what they earned as a deterrent from Allah. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.” (Qur’an 5:38)
The Iranians are only amputating fingers. They’re moderate.
In any case, this is the Sharia. When you suggest it is not compatible with Western values, you’re guilty of “bigotry.”

Behnam Sina and four others were found guilty of breaking into 22 homes across Tehran, the capital city.
The men are being held at Branch Ten of the Criminal Court of Tehran and have contested the charges, admitting to only a few of the burglaries.
But under Iran’s Islamic Penal Code, amputation of limbs is considered a suitable punishment for theft.
Of the 22 households burgled, eight were present during the court hearing.
Six of the households demanded the return of their stolen property and called for the amputation of the thieves’ fingers if the property could not be returned.
At least one other victim might seek amputation as punishment in place of the return of their stolen money and gold.
The final decision on sentencing has yet to be made by the Tehran court….

some people would question, why do all those immigrants who come to the west commit all these kind of crimes fearlessly…… it is exactly because our legal system sounds so funny to them compared to the one where they grew up in…. but when you have to do with muslims it seems, it is only such a legal system they would respect and live in peace with… the primitive savage sharia law….

Yes, I am aware. All I’m saying is that brutal crimes should be met with swift, brutal punishment. I’m not a Muslim advocate, but releasing rapists to rape again or murderers to kill again isn’t really deterring anything, is it? If your daughter was raped, perhaps you’d think differently.

The idea that this means that I would advocate Shari’ah law is mistaken.
There is a difference between tough justice and this barbarism.
Besides, under Shari’ah I would be the one met with “swift, brutal punishment” for daring to report the rape.

I am *in no way* soft on crime, and often bemoan the coddling of criminals we so oftern find in the west now.
But I don’t believe in savagery, either. I think that criminals should be given a chance to reform–it does happen–and lopping off body parts does not allow for this.
And Islam is tough on theft (so long as the victims are Muslim), and is also harsh on “blasphemers”, “witchcraft”, and rape victims.
But then it not only condones but *sacralizes* robbery, rape, and mass murder of Infidels or other vulnerable people. Those who believe in justice are not advocates of the horrors of Shari’ah.

When I was on active duty US Navy, I spent a fair amount of time in Bahrain with the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command (CENTCOM).
I remember a Chief Petty Officer warning me about neighboring Saudi Arabia – and it’s strict sharia law. He mentioned that if someone accidentally drops the wallet on the sidewalk, no one dares to pick it up lest they be falsely accused of theft…
