Calculated insult: Biden first president in 40 years not to contact Israel’s leaders upon taking office

He called Xi. He called Putin. But it’s clear now: Biden’s handlers intend to put immense strain on the U.S.-Israel alliance over the next four years. Trump was the most pro-Israel president since the founding of the modern state of Israel, and all he got for it were accusations of anti-Semitism. Biden’s handlers are clearly laying the groundwork for a massive betrayal of a nation that is on the front lines of the global jihad and has been a loyal ally, and he will be hailed as a great friend of Israel.

President Joe Biden is the first American leader in 40 years not to contact Israel’s leaders as one of his first actions in the White House, setting up what could be four years of chilly relations between America and its top Middle East ally.

Biden has already phoned multiple world leaders, including Russian president Vladimir Putin and Chinese president Xi Jinping, but during his 23 days in office has yet to speak with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu—making Biden the first president in modern history to punt on bolstering U.S.-Israel relations during his initial days in office. Every president going back to at least Ronald Reagan in 1981 made contact with their Israeli counterpart within a week of assuming office, according to a review of news reports.

Congressional foreign policy leaders slammed Biden’s Netanyahu snub, prompting a flurry of questions for White House press secretary Jen Psaki, who has declined to disclose when or if Biden will call the Israeli leader. Psaki also said on Friday the White House would not list Israel as a U.S. ally when asked about the relationship during her daily press briefing.

Modern presidents going back to Reagan made calls or overtures to Israel during their first days in office, sending a message the United States would continue to stand for the Jewish state’s security. Biden’s diplomatic slight comes as Israel faces encroaching terrorist threats and the danger of a nuclear-armed Iran. He also has hired several individuals with a background in anti-Israel activism, including Maher Bitar, a top White House National Security Council official who spent his youth organizing boycotts of the Jewish state. The State Department’s Iran envoy, Robert Malley, also has been a vocal critic of Israel….

President Barack Obama, who faced criticism from Republicans for policies they branded anti-Israel, called the Jewish state’s leaders on his first day in office. Obama also called Palestinian leaders that day, laying the groundwork for that administration’s failed bid to foster peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

President Donald Trump not only called Netanyahu but made the historic decision to invite him to Washington, D.C., on Jan. 22, 2017, two days after he took the oath of office….

  3. It was quite obvious that the then Obama/Biden team,never had Israel interest at heart regarding Iran, went on their knees while Iran openly chanted death to America. Paid out billions in Cash to Iran.

    It was interesting to read that a soldier in Afghanistan who gave the order to shoot two motorbike riders who were monitoring his troops movements, was sentenced to 35 years imprisonment for that order. Antifa in the USA has been involved in rioting, burning and looting businesses, their leaders are free and the vice president Harris encourages them to carry on and asks for funds to bail them out.

    The New York governor, is responsible for the deaths of possibly thousands of elderly Americans in old age homes by intentional inserting recovering covid 19 patients in said homes. Nothing will happen to him.

    • Malcolm, why would God bless such a disgraceful country in which evil is good and good is evil? Where in a state senate imbeciles pray to Allah? God will not bless America. Through it own choice it has turned its back on God and his laws, so by its own hand it is now under His judgement. Hence the utter trash human beings now running that country into the ground. America is going one way now, down. That soldier who got 35 years for stopping enemy monitoring U.S.troop movements, was one of a few unjustly imprisoned for simply fighting an enemy. My advice to young Americans is ‘don’t serve in this military’.

        The weakness of the US military is the political side. The military could win any war left to their own devices.

        In a street fight there are no rules. The military always needs to fight to the rules of their opponent, then more.

Netanyahu should play with what’s left of Biden’s brain and tell him how thrilled he is that America has a President who respects Israel and will do his best to cooperate with Israel and support the right of the Jewish people to live peacefully in the sanctuary of their ancestral homeland.

        • With respect, I agree with Terry here. It is important for Israel and the US to maintain good relations, even when the current occupant of the White House is a vicious moron. This transcends–or should transcend–individual viscitudes of politics.

          Most Americans still staunchly support Israel–I hope Isrealis know this.

          I often disagree with you, although most of the time, I don’t reply to your comments with which I disagree.

          Now, however, I must say that nothing was accomplished to help Israel when the PM…the one that still is…came to the U S. to meet with ‘o’, who is now running the show again…and was shown to the servants’ entrance. ‘o’ had wiretaps on the phones of the Israeli government and the repubs in the House.
          After that, ‘o’ gave Israel’s national secrets to her enemies.

          The reasons for taking a phone call from a leader of another country is to speak about common interests and how each can help the other. biden and company have no interest in helping Israel, but will likely betray any secrets to iran and china if these are revealed in phone calls or meetings.

          And “terry” has no real ‘interest’ here as he is a Canadian and it matters not to me who may ‘agree’ with him. . Let him work on little justin.

          And though many…perhaps “most”…Americans “support” Israel, the many or most do not control what the president or the sos do in regard to other nations.

        • Somehistory, it is fine if you disagree with me here–but most Americans do still support Israel, no matter who is in the White House. I agree that Obama’s treatmenf of the Israeli PM was utterly shameful.

          I do know that Terry Gain is Canadian–but just as many non-Canadians here care about what is happening there–I know I do–many Canadians and other non-Americans here do actually care about what happens in America (and Israel). That does not mean that you have to agree with them on suggested policy, of course.

Just as there are people who come and comment here on different threads believe this or that…in the long run, in the end, no one commenting can make much difference in what the nations do or don’t do…with regard to islam, moslims, evil people who don’t confess to being moslim, etc.

          So, agree with whomever you wish…”that’s fine,” You write as though you believe I wish bad things for Israel…which is far from the truth of the matter. But, in the long run, in the big scheme of things, taking in the complete picture, it really doesn’t matter.

          I think you should take a poll or call it a survey, and ask “most Americans” how they feel about Israel. Then you’ll be able to see that it is not possible to just state this without some research. How many are “most” of 300 million plus?
          Whether “most” Americans support Israel is not the point anyway. It’s what I said about Israel’s PM not taking a call from biden. I wouldn’t take a call from him, and I’m an American. When one is treated as dirt, why should the ‘dirt’ allow himself to be walked on?

          Put him on hold, say the phone number has been changed, and he’ll need to call the “new number,” and then not give the new number. Doesn’t really make a difference as long as the point is made that when one is treated shabbily, that one doesn’t have to lie down and take it.

Imagine showing respect to China’s loathsome regime by contacting that totally inhuman scumbag, Xi, and also Putin and yet snubbing a decent type of government and a pretty civilised country such as Israel. Biden’s government looks like being really bad news for the whole world. But this hatred of Israel seems to have been very fashionable among the left wingers all round the world for quite a few years now and seems to be getting worse.

      • Thanks, gravenimage. I suppose a new administration would have to contact major powers such as China and Russia, but this attitude towards Israel disgusts me. Israel seems like the only civilsied and half way decent country in the Middle East. There has been this sympathy (I believe undeserved) for the Palestinians but, in recent years, the left wingers seem to have really stepped up their hatred for Israel. It does seem like a fashionable thing for the lefties in recent years. Even though I was a fan of Trump and think that this Biden government will be hopeless, I do hope that Biden’s administration will be tough in dealing with China, which seems like a massive danger to everybody and especially is a huge danger to all the countries in Australia’s part of the world. China has certainly been acting like a big bully towards Australia recently and it is interesting, even left wing people you talk to out here, in fact everybody, now seems very worried about China and with good reason.

And I’m not saying the US president has to call Israel first–typically the first call is made to the British PM–but definitely some time in the first couple of days after inauguration. The fact that it has now been *three weeks* with no call is simply appalling. This is clearly entirely deliberate.

        • I think you’re fantasizing if you think Biden will shield the US from Chinese co-option. Biden and his family have profited immensely from Chinese business concessions to Biden’s incompetent relatives. I’m certain that China has hours of video showing Biden happily sniffing the hair and rubbing the clothes of prepubescent Chinese girls. China is sucking away US manufacturing capabilities and jobs. I really can’t find any electronic equipment or even plain hardware like treadmills, that wasn’t made in China. China manufactures our drugs. Chinese “student” researchers have worked on our computer and network systems. Chinese-made transistors and integrated circuits underlie our electronic grid.

          Biden and his family have a long history of graft and corruption. The Chinese are masters at cooption and espionage, so a bumbling grifter like Biden realizes he has no chance of independent action, so he simply accepts the favors and does what is required.

The reason that I’m hoping that even this Biden administration will be tough with China is because i think that, by now, almost everyone would be waking up to what an immense danger this thuggish power, China, is to the whole world. I’m pretty pessimistic about whether any country or alliance of powers can defeat China and stop its increasing power. What you say RonaldB about how China has come to dominate the world economically seems right to me. I think it must be because the workers involved in manufacturing all these electronic goods, etc, that dominate the market are paid so little that Chinese goods cost far less than any goods we make. Certainly, here in Australia, manufacturing has largely gone, though we have paid high wages out here for years and just can’t compete. R Thomasson, I think you are right about the poisonous cultural Marxist mob and I agree with what you say about Trump. He did seem to be awake to China and was up for a fight against China.     Therefore about Biden will be willing to ,in time, to divide the State of Israel in to separate parts is what is called the “two- state solution.”

    This idea of dividing the Jewish land of the State of Israel in two is a blatant contradiction to the wisdom of the teaching of Jesus .Who declared, “If a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom will not stand.” Mark 3:24. Thus, Biden willingly disregarding what Jesus taught apparently reveals that Biden doesn’t really respect Jesus and His teaching.

    Even worse, there may even be demonic influence of President Pretender Biden .As in in feeble- minded limited thinking ability could easily be controlled by outside evil spirit entity.

    The reason this might be so is because the dividing the land concept favored by Biden is the same notion put into action by the coming arch- villain predicted in the Bible who is called the Anti- Christ.

    For Bible inform its reader that one thing the coming Ant-Christ will do concerning Israel is that he “Shall divide the land…”

    President imposter Joe Biden is not really the coming anti-Christ but his demonic idea dividing the land of Israel is the same and the thought then action of the coming deceptive cunning fiend the anti-Christ, who is also called “the son of perdition.” Second Thessalonians 2:3.

    • I think it should be Israel, rather than the US, who decides on the viability and desirability of a two-state solution. That is one reason I think the US and Israel should pursue independent policies. But, it should be Israel that lives with the consequences of its own policy.

        • And Biden will strongly pressure Israel to accept it. Which is a good argument for my position: Israel and the US should pursue their own interests as friends, but not as co-dependents.

I don’t necessarily oppose Israel actions, but I don’t want the US to be associated with them. On the other hand, I like the fact that Trump disengaged the US from the Syrian civil war. So, I’m not totally unhappy that Biden didn’t run immediately to the Israelis.

    It remains to be seen if Biden is merely distancing from Israel, or if he is going to cross into negative territory, such as supporting the BDS movement. For people who reflexively opposed Trump: good. You got what you deserved.

        • My position is that the US has no business in Iraq, Syrian, LIbya or the Houthi war. I’m also not in favor of engaging Iran. Let them get into the quagmires of Iraq, Syria and Yemen. If not for US intervention, the main enemy of Iran would be a strong but fettered Iraq under Hussein and we wouldn’t have to worry about Iran predominating.

Only time they made a mistake of voting him out was during Clinton, and they went on to regret it. It was only after Israel got the level of support that it did under Trump that Bibi was unable to win an election outright w/o forming a coalition w/ the Blue-White party

        And w/ Biden putting Iran above Israel, when the Israelis are forced to vote again, I’ll bet that Bibi will win again just as an insurance against the pro-Iran policies of Biden

Lot of people behind him, are NOT STANDING FOR THE JEWISH STATE SECURITY. Why should they? For many of them (for example the women representing the “squad” as Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Linda Sarsour and clubs as CAIR) are the 9/11 terrorists great heroes. The same supporters regard the victims in the Twin Towers, Flight 93 of United Airlines etc. as people who were at the wrong place in the wrong time. Iran efforts to develop nuclear power are just trivialities. In view of all this, Biden’s behavior toward Israel is obvious. Alas for the American Jews… They had gambled on the wrong horse.

Maybe the Jewish state didn’t offer the Biden family a good enough deal or make a big enough contribution to his election fund?
