Does anyone believe Rittenhouse would be released if he were Muslim & did the same thing in a diff context? For people who say “systemic racism doesn’t exist,” this is what it looks like: protection of white supremacy baked deep into our carceral systems.

Why yes, actually. I do. Rittenhouse can make a strong case that he acted in self-defense. If a Muslim were arrested in similar circumstances, the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) would be crying “Islamophobia,” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her colleagues would be claiming “racism” and “white supremacy,” as she does here despite the fact that Islam is not a race and there are white jihad terrorists, and the whole case would likely become the focal point of a new establishment media offensive claiming that Muslims are singularly discriminated against and harassed in the United States.
But Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez knows that charges of racism and victimhood and especially race-based victimhood are the lifeblood of her movement. And so she traffics in this kind of rhetoric relentlessly, with no regard for the facts.
