Turkey did the same thing in the early twentieth century, “purging its lands” of Armenians by means of genocide. Note that the rhetoric of “occupation” that Karagül uses here is the same as that employed by jihadis in the “Palestinian” territories, as well as in Jammu and Kashmir and elsewhere. Jihadis routinely frame their struggles as attempts to regain land that is rightfully theirs. The only problem is that the land you’re on is rightfully theirs as well.

Azerbaijan is only conducting operations in its own territory. This operation is strictly within its legitimate boundaries.
