The International Union for Muslim Scholars (IUMS), located in Qatar, is a leading organization in the “anti-Zionist” movement against Israel and all Western interests, so this prohibition of normalization is to be expected. The IUMS was founded by Yusuf Al Qaradawi, the infamous spiritual and ideological leader of the Muslim Brotherhood. According to Al Arabiya, “the union is financially supported by Qatar’s former Emir Sheikh Hamad Al Thani.”
The IUMS is influential, and its core belief in the Sharia, along with its supremacist imperatives, is shared by Saudi Arabia, a fact that is important to keep in mind amid the speculation that Saudi Arabia will soon join Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates in normalizing relations with Israel. Saudi Arabia “remains committed to a Palestinian state with 1967 borders.”
The Anadolu Agency states that “Israel occupied the West Bank and East Jerusalem, where Al-Aqsa Mosque is located, during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. It annexed the entire city in 1980 in a move never recognized by the international community.” The term “occupation” is an ongoing slap in the face to Israel, as Israel is the historic owner of Judea and Samaria. Also, returning to pre-1967 borders will make Israel vulnerable to obliteration, which is why the pre-1967 lines are sometimes termed the “Auschwitz Borders.”
Although the Arab world is deeply divided over Israel, its main players are committed to the Auschwitz Borders, at least unless Saudi Arabia abandons its commitment to these borders (and stops funding the export of jihad terror). Until that time, Saudi Arabia shares a great deal in common with the IUMS.

The International Union for Muslim Scholars (IUMS) on Sunday forbade any normalization of relations with the Israeli occupation authorities.
In a statement, IUMS Secretary-General Ali al-Qaradaghi said normalization emboldens Israel to continue its decades-long occupation of the Palestinian lands.
“Normalization with the occupiers of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem is forbidden and is considered a treason,” he said.
Israel occupied the West Bank and East Jerusalem, where Al-Aqsa Mosque is located, during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. It annexed the entire city in 1980 in a move never recognized by the international community.
