War is as old as humanity itself, and is far more of a constant in human history than peace. But a nation that does not value what it has, and what it has made, will not fight to save itself, and will quickly fall to the predators who will most certainly come. A nation stripped of its heroes, of its grand achievements, of its founding principles, is a hollow shell that will be taken up and used by people who value their own heroes, grand achievements, and founding principles. That’s what Rating America’s Presidents: An America-First Look at Who Is Best, Who Is Overrated, and Who Was An Absolute Disaster is designed to counteract.
An evaluation of America’s Presidents may seem to be an exercise in trivia, good preparation for Jeopardy, maybe, but not relevant to the conflicts that are convulsing America today. However, the history of the United States itself shines forth from these gradings of each President, from the Founding of our nation to today. As that history is under concerted assault from the Left today, it is all the more important that every American who loves this country be familiar with that history, far more than was made possible by high school courses taught by Leftist sub-academics droning on about racism and colonialism on hazy afternoons.
It’s important for you to know American history well because of numerous truths that become clear in studying it, including:
- The crises in America today are not new. They’re rooted in conflicts that go right back to America’s Founding
- Even though the conflicts in America today have age-old roots, some aspects of them are indeed new – and are the product of insidious forces working to harm the nation
- Some of the worst problems America face today come from the misbegotten ideas of some of our most high-minded Presidents
- Numerous self-serving political agendas have in American history have been cynically and dishonestly presented in the language of high-mindedness and civic morality
- There are certain public policies that have almost always led to national prosperity, and some that have almost always led to disaster
- America survived previous rending and bloody conflicts, including the civil war, because of an underlying unity that may no longer exist
Tariffs, national security, border control, race relations, even the attempt by a shadowy deep state group to wrest control of the government and the nation from the President and other elected officials – the controversies over these things all these have precedents in American history. Numerous past Presidents have articulated the way forward on these issues and others in language that resounds through the decades and still holds true today, despite the changed circumstances.
There are a great many lessons in American history for what we’re facing today. The President who said that a deep state cabal “is trying to kill me, but I will kill it!” wasn’t Donald Trump, but it could have been. The President who said “I have no prejudice against sect or race but want each individual to be judged by his own merit” was not Barack Obama, and in fact died nearly eight decades before Obama was born. The first election that the opposing party charged was stolen was not 2016; it was nearly two centuries before that.
Above all, people fight for what they value. They value what they know. America today faces the crisis of its life. It has faced other mortal conflicts before. If it survives this one, there will be more still in the future. But we will not be able to win this one unless we know, and care, what we are fighting for. That’s what Rating America’s Presidents is all about.
