“Drop kick that tear-gas canister, sister,” tweeted on May 28 Imraan Siddiqi, executive director of the Hamas-derived Council on American-Islamic Relations’ (CAIR) Arizona chapter. This encouragement to a veiled Muslim woman captured on video in the act of kicking a teargas projectile back at riot-controlling police indicated the inflammatory online Leftist-Islamist response to America’s recent Black Lives Matter (BLM) upheaval.
As this author experienced with Siddiqi, the BLM movement and allies such as Antifa are not interested in critical debunking of their anti-American myths. The depraved May 25 killing of the black man George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota by four arresting police officers has once again conjured the dystopia of an irredeemably racist America. Yet rather than discuss the validity of this scenario, Siddiqi blocked this author from viewing his Twitter account after his retweet drew unwelcome attention to Siddiqi’s radicalism.
As many have noted, the violent rioting and looting currently wracking America take their dark inspiration from the alternative history developed over decades by academic and media elites, as in the New York Times’ 1619 Project. This 2019 Pulitzer Prize-winning fake news proclaims that the 1619 introduction of black slaves into the American colonies represents America’s true guiding ideology of white supremacy over four centuries. Today’s “1619 riots” are merely the logical conclusion of the slander that America’s proclamation of liberty in the 1776 Declaration of Independence has always been a lie.
In particular, the reality of modern American policing refutes such libels propagated by BLM, as Manhattan Institute scholar Heather Mac Donald has repeatedly documented. Although blacks are only about 13 percent of America’s population, their contemporary communal chaos (e.g. widespread family breakdown) produces massive crime (e.g. some 50 percent of America’s murders). Meanwhile, in recent years, police killings (by officers of all races, with higher rates often for minority officers) of unarmed civilians have decreased. Police officers only killed nine such blacks in 2019; black Americans are far more likely to be victims of black cop killers.
As Mac Donald discussed in recent interviews, including one with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, America’s current urban unrest rests upon BLM-promoted lies of endemic police racism. This is evident to any reader in recent years of the excellent Legal Insurrection website of Cornell University Law School Professor William Jacobson. His team has exploded the fabrications surrounding the cause célèbre shootings of blacks including Trayvon Martin in 2012, Michael Brown in 2014 (the origin of BLM’s “hands up, don’t’ shoot” scam), and Freddie Gray in 2015.
BLM’s deceptions help mask its true nature as a Marxist organization committed to subverting America, as the Capital Research Center (CRC) has revealed. BLM’s platform includes what CRC’s James Simpson has called a “kitchen sink of favored radical-left causes,” including rants against the “global racialized capitalist system” as well as Israel’s “genocide” of Palestinians. Black pro-life activist Ryan Bomberger has noted that homosexuality, transgenderism, and abortion are also prominent for self-proclaimed “queer-affirming” BLM members, who “disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family.” BLM also calls for rehabilitating Assata Shakur, who fled to Cuba after killing a New Jersey police officer in 1973.
As BLM media resources such as videos featuring anti-Semitic, Israel-haters such as Marc Lamont Hill and Tamika Mallory demonstrate, Leftist political foundations have lavished funding upon BLM. An estimated $33 million has gone to BLM from Leftist financier George Soros through his various organizations, including the Open Society Foundations. The Ford Foundation likewise vowed in 2016 to raise $100 million for BLM.
CRC’s Matthew Vadum has also examined how BLM parallels its ally Antifa, an “ultra-violent leftist movement,” in matters such as Soros’ financial backing. While BLM’s hypocritical rhetoric has cheered anti-police violence, even as BLM events have been scenes of cop killings, such as the July 7, 2016 shooting of five Dallas police officers, Antifa has a long history of incitement. Antifa groups participated in February 1, 2017 riots (with more than $500,000 in damage) that prevented right-wing firebrand Milo Yiannopoulos from speaking at the University of California-Berkeley. Antifa protests similarly led to the cancellation of Mac Donald at Claremont McKenna College later, on April 6, 2017. In between, police arrested Senator Tim Kaine’s (D-VA) son, Woody Kaine, at an Antifa disturbance in the St. Paul, Minnesota state capitol building on March 4, 2017.
With similar anti-American goals, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) previously has joined Antifa in support of BLM, a reminder for Simpson of the “unholy alliance” between jihadists and Leftists. CAIR, along with other pro-Palestinian activists, tried to co-opt protests following the 2014 self-defense shooting of Brown by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, in what the Legal Insurrection called the “Intifada Missouri.” CAIR also joined BLM in 2015 in raucous protests outside California Governor Jerry Brown’s office inside the Sacramento state capitol building.
Predictably, following Floyd’s killing, CAIR officials including its San Francisco Bay Area chapter leader Zahra Billoo, a rabid hater of both America and Israel, have joined Siddiqi in tweeting support for BLM. Yet she is merely one individual in BLM’s toxic, anti-Western rainbow coalition that has sought to exploit just concerns about his death and police misconduct for nefarious agendas, as a future article will show.
