Ramadan is the time in which Muslims strive to intensify their efforts to please Allah. Consequently, since Islam mandates violence under certain circumstances, it is also a month that usually features an increased jihad death toll. And those who threatened Morad El Ouakili are untroubled: they don’t believe that threatening to kill someone who is offending Allah is wrong. Quite the contrary. But playing music during Ramadan, that’s clearly wrong, as far as they’re concerned.

Hilversum – FunX DJ Moradzo has received death threats because he plays music during Ramadan. This was stated by the DJ, who is actually called Morad El Ouakili, on his radio program. On Facebook, he shared screenshots to prove his claim.

El Ouakili was audibly devastated by the death threats and read a statement during his broadcast. “The intention of this show is to show what great initiatives are being taken during Ramadan,” he said. And: “We cannot make a show that is 100 percent Islam-proof. We can try to connect and put all the beauty of this month in the spotlight.”
