This is a most welcome development, and long overdue. As I explained here, the Palestinian Authority (PA) is the world’s biggest welfare case, with the United States and the European Union pouring billions, if not trillions, into the coffers of these supposedly oppressed people. Palestinian officials have used the money to enrich themselves and to finance jihad terror against Israel. Finally, Israel has begun to push back against this: in July 2018, the Knesset passed a bill directing that the amount of PA payments to jihad terrorists be deducted from the Israeli taxpayer money that was collected for the Palestinians. (How many people who condemn Israel for its supposed oppression of the Palestinians are even aware that Israeli taxpayer money goes to the Palestinian Authority?) These deductions are happening – but they’re still not nearly enough, and the Palestinian Authority is still giving an astounding amount of money to jihad murderers and their families. “Netherlands cuts aid to Palestinian Authority over terrorist salaries,” Times of Israel, November 21, 2019:
The Dutch government has cut funding for the Palestinian Authority over its salaries to terrorists serving time in Israeli jails.
The aid ministry announced the move Wednesday during annual budget talks.
In 2017, the Palestinian Authority paid about $198 million to a fund for the families of terrorists killed during their attacks and about $160 million to Palestinians being held in Israeli jails, according to Israeli Defense Ministry figures.
The Netherlands spends several million dollars each year on aid to the Palestinian Authority and Palestinian populations elsewhere in the Middle East but most of that money is given to agencies and nongovernmental organizations.
The country had given about $1.6 million directly to the Palestinian Authority annually to pay the salaries of justice ministry employees….
