This Xinhua article identifies the attacker only as a “religious extremist.” Apparently even the Chinese establishment media wants to make sure that readers don’t get any negative impression of Islam. But this happened in Tunisia, so it’s quite clear what kind of “religious extremist” was involved here. Islamic jihadis in Muslim countries hate tourists, who are often visiting sites of jahiliyya, the pre-Islamic society of unbelievers. And if they’re visiting Muslim sites, they’re trampling them down under their Infidel feet. Either way, they’re not welcome.

The Tunisian Interior Ministry said on Monday that a French tourist was stabbed to death by a religious extremist in Tunisia’s northernmost province of Bizerte.

However, a preliminary investigation had identified the assailant as a 28-year-old man who wounded a soldier with a sharp blade before escaping and stabbing the tourist in his face and chest….
