The Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri Hamadani made a new call for Muslims to wage jihad:
Referring to the spirit of sacrifice and jihad among the people nation of Iran, His Eminence stated, “Wherever in the world where there is a war is taking place, people with worldly motives go to the frontlines but the martyrs of Islamic Iran went to jihad with love, enthusiasm and devotion for Wilayat al-Faqih [Guardianship of the Jurisprudent].”
“His Eminence” Hamadani — a high-ranking Shia cleric — went on to discuss the importance of “preserving the dignity of Islam.” Jihad martyrdom — killing and being killed for Allah (cf. Qur’an 9:111) — is a strange way to show love and dignity. Hamadani’s moral sense recalls that of another Muslim cleric, Sheikh Faarrokh Sekaleshfar, who called for the execution of gays at a mosque in Orlando weeks before the Pulse massacre. He justified such killing as “nothing to be embarrassed about,” but “compassionate.”
There is plenty to be embarrassed and repulsed about in the theology behind the Islamic jihad, with its instructions of violence and barbarism against fellow human beings in the name of Allah and Islam.
“Iran’s authority due to sacrifices of great veterans, martyrs,” AhlulBayt News Agency, April 18, 2019:
Emphasizing on the necessity of explaining the wills of the martyrs to the people, the revered source of emulation considered Iran’s dignity and authority is due to the sacrifice of it’s great veterans and martyrs.
Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri Hamadani met with the director general and members of the Martyrs Foundation of Qom province and said, “Today, it must be known that keeping the memory of the martyrs alive is very important.”
Noting that keeping the memory of the martyrs alive will lead to the revival of the spirit of sacrifice and martyrdom, the revered source of emulation stated, “All of Iran’s dignity and authority is due to the sacrifices of its great veterans and martyrs.”
He said that according to narrations, anyone who abandons jihad on the path of God, God will wrap him in the clothes of humiliation and debasement.
Ayatollah Nouri Hamadani emphasized that according to the narrations, jihad was always emphasized by the Prophet Muhammad and the Infallibles and added, “God has given the ummah dignity as a result of jihad. Every good thing has degrees and levels but one must know that above all good is being martyred on the path of God.”Referring to the spirit of sacrifice and jihad among the people nation of Iran, His Eminence stated, “Wherever in the world where there is a war is taking place, people with worldly motives go to the frontlines but the martyrs of Islamic Iran went to jihad with love, enthusiasm and devotion for Wilayat al-Faqih [Guardianship of the Jurisprudent].”
He emphasized the necessity of explaining the wills of the martyrs for the people and stated, “Today, the enemies are trying to amplify a sense of regret and disappointment among the people towards the martyrs in order to disturb the country. Therefore, we must try through cultural works to stand against the enemies and preserve the dignity of Islam.” ….
