Stephan Hebel in Frankfurter Rundschau has nary a word to say about the thuggishness of the Left and the negative implications for a free society of the brutal beating of Frank Magnitz. All he is worried about is that Alternative for Germany (AfD) might benefit from the beating. Hebel is worried about fascism, and is busy working to usher it back in to Germany.

It was a terrible act that happened last night in Bremen: a man was beaten with brutal force until he was hospitalized. And the first statement must be that something like that is deeply inhuman, no matter who the victim is.
In this case, it was the AfD member of parliament Frank Magnitz. So the victim was a representative of a party that represents — for example on the refugee question — inhumane positions. But who actually believes that one can combat these positions by falling below the level of the AfD and even resorting to disgusting, inhumane means?
Thus the moral angle, but there is also a political aspect: this act will benefit no one more than the party of the victim, the AfD….
It was not yet midnight and AfD chairman Jörg Meuthen had already responded. On Twitter he posted a photo of his brutally beaten party friend Magnitz. He was still too “shaken” to comment on the crime; Meuthen wrote that he would do this Tuesday. But Meuthen’s followers anticipated the tone: “Now you know who the Nazis are! Those who are not loyal to the line will be beaten to death!,” wrote one.
In other words, nothing could better confirm AfD supporters in their friend-foe scheme than this brutal attack. In any case, it is part of their political delusions that we live in a “left-green” society in which people are persecuted who are not “loyal to the line.” In the next few hours and days, we will see more often how this deed in Bremen is reinterpreted into proof of this ridiculous idea.
Yes, every Democrat has very good reasons to fight the AfD. Also on the street. It is good if it cannot hold an assembly, a demonstration, or a party congress without encountering massive and mass protests. It is good if your incitement is met with humane arguments, and very loudly.
However, if those who think differently, no matter how radical, are ambushed and beaten and sent to the hospital, anticipate the misanthropy that would prevail in the worst possible way in a society ruled by the AfD — under the unbelievable excuse of fighting that inhumanity.
