Slashing one and you may have some personal vendetta against the owner of the car. But 78 car tires? People falsely accuse Jihad Watch of putting up accounts of any crime when committed by a Muslim, even when the perpetrator’s Islamic faith is tangential to the crime. But this is no ordinary crime. It is a pointless act of vandalism, unless Ahmad Zafar is seething with hatred for Canada and Canadians, and why would that be? This raises the question of whether he was trying, in his own small and inventive way, to overwhelm and disrupt the workings of the Toronto police force, as well perhaps to “strike terror in the enemies of Allah” (Qur’an 8:60), or express his contempt for “the most vile of created beings” (Qur’an 98:6). No connection will be made to jihad in this case, but since the Islamic State has called upon Muslims to try to overwhelm law enforcement agencies in the West with so many attacks and plots and crimes that they collapse, the connection can’t be discounted out of hand.

Toronto police have identified the man arrested Friday evening in connection with a string of car tires slashed in Leslieville.
55 Division issued a public safety alert yesterday, warning local residents that 60 cases of vandalism to vehicles were reported in the area of Gerrard St. E. to Eastern Ave., and Boulton Ave. to Marjory Ave., since July 1.
Multiple residents told the Star they were angry and frustrated at the repeated slashings….
