Mainstream analysts will puzzle over this one (if they choose not to ignore it, as they likely will). They will scratch their heads and wonder why the peaceful, tolerant verses of the Qur’an that he was playing on his phone didn’t lead him to realize that he was misunderstanding Islam in thinking it called upon him to wage war against unbelievers. The idea that the Qur’an verses might have incited him to violence they will dismiss out of hand as inconceivable.

On Sunday night in Nice, France, a Muslim assailant attacked a police patrol with a knife whilst his phone loudly played Koran’s verses. He was quickly subdued and arrested.
At 1:50 am, a 29 year old man was discovered by Nice’s municipal police sneaking into the town hall and filming local’s and police’s vehicles. His phone was also playing muslim verses loudly.
When the police confronted him, he spat on them before insulting them “You are all unbelievers, I’ll kill you”. The Islamist then pulled a knife from behind his back but was quickly restrained by the police. Apparently he wasn’t known by the anti terrorism police….
