This is a manifestation of the culture of violence that is created by the divine mandate for the beating of disobedient women (Qur’an 4:34) and the general reduction of women to commodities: when they get out of line, there is no limit to the punishment that can be meted out.

In a knife attack at Jungfernstieg station in Hamburg, a child and his mother have been stabbed to death. The father of the child was arrested.
In a knife attack in downtown Hamburg, a 34-year-old mother and her one-year-old daughter were fatally injured on Thursday. The ex-husband of the woman, a 33-year-old from Niger, was arrested near the crime scene on Jungfernstieg, police said. He is the father of the child. He had “targeted and brutally” stabbed his two victims, said police spokesman Timo Zill. The murder weapon has not yet been found.
The crime took place in the area of the underground S-Bahn station Jungfernstieg. Nearby are shopping streets, the popular Binnenalster and the town hall.
The child died at the scene. The mother succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. The police assume that this act was related to their relationship. “Many details are currently completely unclear to us,” said police spokesman Timo Zill.
The suspect had even called the emergency number; word reached the police at 10:50 AM. The homicide squad took over the investigation. The area on the Jungfernstieg was cordoned off. A helicopter landed….
In recent times, several acts done with knives – including in Berlin, Kandel, Lünen and Dortmund – caused great consternation in Germany. In Hamburg, last October, a Pakistani man killed his two-year-old daughter with a knife: the man admitted the crime in court, the trial is still going on.
