According to the Daily Caller News Foundation, “The investigation is focused on allegations the Awan group abused their access as congressional information technology (IT) administrators for dozens of Democratic members of the House of Representatives, including former Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida. Politico reported the criminal probe concerned ‘serious, potentially illegal, violations on the House IT network.’”
And as for the idea that he was just casually going to take a trip and no one minded until anti-Muslim bigotry got the best of them, Hina Alvi, Imran Awan’s wife, “another House staff member involved in the Capitol Hill investigation, left the country with their three daughters, headed for Pakistan, in March, according to an affidavit filed in the Awan case. Alvi had ‘numerous pieces of luggage’ and more than $12,000 in cash, FBI agent Brandon Merriman wrote in the affidavit.”
A network of Muslim IT staffers with ties to the highest levels of Democratic Party leadership and to Pakistan, being investigated for “serious, potentially illegal, violations on the House IT network,” leaving the country while under investigation, carrying large amounts of cash. Nothing to see here. It’s all just “anti-Muslim bigotry.”

The attorney for a Democratic House IT staffer, Imran Awan, who was arrested on Monday over bank fraud charges, says the charges are a political move and “began as part of a frenzy of anti-Muslim bigotry in the literal heart of our democracy, the House of Representatives.”
“For months we have had utterly unsupported, outlandish, and slanderous statements targeting Mr. Awan coming not just from the ultra-right-wing ‘pizzagate’ media but from sitting members of Congress,” Christopher Gowen, Awan’s attorney said in a statement obtained by the Washington Examiner.
“The government had been informed he would travel and had stated no objection. Yet on Monday night he was hastily arrested at Dulles airport,” the statement read.
