No one at the State Department can also recall the last time we won a war.
I’ve often observed that government officials no longer seem able to grasp the concept of wars or winning them. But here’s a State Department official being quoted by CNN to whom the whole thing is an entirely alien concept.
The US believes Israel has significantly weakened Hezbollah in strikes over the last week but is still working feverishly behind the scenes to try to convince it not to escalate further and launch a ground incursion into Lebanon over concerns the intensified fighting could spark a broader conflict engulfing the wider Middle East, officials told CNN.
“I can’t recall, at least in recent memory, a period in which an escalation or intensification led to a fundamental de-escalation and led to profound stabilization of the situation,” the State Department official told reporters Monday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
No one at the State Department can also recall the last time we won a war.
Winning a war deescalates a conflict. We don’t do that anymore and so we have endless generational wars instead.
Rather than understanding wars, officials talk in terms of ‘escalation’ or ‘deescalation’ which is the same lunatic philosophy that led to Oct 7 on the theory that some state of low-level conflict could forever be sustained as long as both sides were being monitored and persuaded to deescalate the conflict as if the thing at issue here were a simmering rivalry between 5th graders and not a zero-sum conflict with Islamic terrorists.
Rather than deescalating a war so that the terrorists can attack again, Israel is trying to win a war.
Some of our officials might want to consider cracking open a history book to learn more about the concept.

If it was December 1941, and we had these same idiots in the White House and Pentagon. They would have been urging the USA to not fight back… we would have surrendered instead of winning WWII. Trump needs to win and he needs to CLEAN OUT the LOSERS in the Pentagon and State Department.

Good thing we didn’t have fools like these in charge during WWII.
Grant was correct to insist upon unconditional surrender and Sherman was correct when he said “War is all Hell” (and why the sooner total victory occurs the better; the alternative, i.e., interminable wars with no end plan in sight, is the far crueler reality).
James Lincoln says
Spot on, Wellington.
The Allies would have never won World War II with the current fools in the US and the UK…

If they would recognize, and admit to recognizing, that islam is evil, so when mozlums are practicing their religion/politics (hamas is said to be both political and military) they are practicing **evil,** they might be able to understand what Israel is trying to do.
As long as they ascribe value to islam, they will keep on being stupid and advocating for Israel to stop fighting for survival and give peace, er, evil a chance.
They don’t want to see that both hamas and hezbollah are evil groups practicing their evil craft for the sole purpose of world domination.

State Department Official Baffled by Concept of Winning War

Winning a war? What’s that mean? sarc/off

The Last time the US won a war was WWII. We were winning in Korea, but Truman fired the General, Douglas MacArthur.
We did better in Vietnam than most give us credit. We won 85% of the firefights and all the major battles. Our losses occurred at the peace conference talks and the Leftists at home. The real Communist goal was the Strait of Malacca.
We did just fine in Granada and Panama, but they were insignificant.
Now for Desert Storm, Afghanistan and Iraq.
Out of a wrongly placed sympathy for Islam, they were never forced to surrender as we did in WWII, we killed them until they agreed to an unconditional surrender. Surrender and Peace with the Infidel are forbidden in Islam.

From a purely military standpoint, we won both the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Afghanistan was won by December 2001 and Iraq in 2003 itself. It’s the nationbuiilding projects that failed miserably, and which should never be a part of any future military missions

Perhaps if you are against ”nation building” then perhaps not destroying a nation in the first place that has done nothing against you would be a good start.
Tell me again what Afghanistan, Iraq or Libya did against America that caused Uncle Sam to bomb the crap out of those Nations that most Americans couldn’t find on a World Map today.
”We must get out of these endless Wars”… Donald J. Trump..

Not escalating has left unsolved problems around the world. Maybe it is time to try a new (old) approach.
