Al Qaeda + Pirates = Jihad on the High Seas

pirate.jpg
Arrghh...Aslim taslam, matey!

More evidence that the supposedly "random" Somali pirate attacks are, in fact, associated with al-Qaeda's jihad. Incidentally, piracy as a jihadist activity has a pedigree at least as old as the Barbary conflicts with Europe and the United States, and the Islamic slave raiding pirates vividly described in Giles Milton's book White Gold.

"Al Qaida + Pirates = Jihad on the High Seas," from the Jawa Report, October 2:

Al Qaida has claimed responsibility for the increased pirate attacks off the coast of Somalia this year. So far this year there have been around 60 attacks against cargo ships in the Gulf of Aden, in 2007 there was 13. The islamic pirates are currently holding up to 300 crewmen hostage and 14 cargo ships for ransom.

It's the trifecta:

Somali pirates hijack cargo ships in the Gulf of Aden off the coast of Somalia. Then the pirates collect the ransom paid for the release of cargo ships and crewmen. This is known as jihad al-mal, monetary jihad.

Large sums of the ransom money goes to al Shabaab, the islamic Youth Movement. Al Shabaab uses the ransom money to fuel the jihad on land. Both groups are linked to al Qaida, it's all about the jihad.

From Frontpagemagazine:

In a recent communiqué, the Islamist organization claimed responsibility for this year’s surge in pirate attacks in the vital Gulf of Aden off the coast of Somalia. Dozens of vessels from different nations have been seized and held for ransom, shaking the world’s shipping industry. Al-Qaeda calls its maritime campaign “a new strategy which permits the mujahedeen” to hijack shipping, since “fighters who aspire to establish the caliphate must control the seas and the waterways.”

Counterterrorism consultant Olivier Guitta revealed the al-Qaeda connection in his Asia Times column, writing that the terrorist organization “intends to take control of the Gulf of Aden and the southern entrance of the Red Sea.” Guitta called the area “strategic” for the radical Islamic group.

Well as they are being beaten on land, did one ever doubt they would try their luck at sea ?

The remedy is the same, with slight variation in keeping with the maritime tradition - make em walk the plank - but the end game is the same.

The best jihadi is a dead one.

Silence is consent.

A short primer on jihad.
There were 3 phases of jihad.
From 610 till 622 the Pacifist Phase was the order of the day. Quran 2:256 There is no compulsion in religion, etc.

From 622 till 628 was the self defense phase
Quran 2:190 Fight in the path of allah those that fight you, but do not transgress limits, for allah does not love transgressors.

Phase 3 Offensive Jihad from 628 till 632
Quran 2:191 Kill them where you find them...
Quran 2:193
Quran 9:5

From phase 1 to 3 Muhammad was getting progressively angrier at being rejected as a "prophet".

Hakimayat Allah - allah is the only lawgiver. Only He can determine right from wrong, permissible from forbidden, good and evil.
So if some cleric decides allah as decreed jihad,
revelation is superior to reason. Humans cannot arrive at "divine truth" through reason only through revelation.

Positive law must not contravene divine law. Any attempt to legislate laws that contravene allah's
laws is a form of shirk (polytheism) that constitutes a major transgression against religion (kufr kabir).

A couple good small naval ships and a few marines and we could clear this den of degnerate inequity out. Kill or capture and hang the pirates and shell the ports they operate out of. Make sure all pirates get the piggy wiggy burial they so richly deserve.

Aslim Taslam (Arabic: أسلم تسلم‎) is a phrase meaning "become a Muslim so you be safe".[1] that is taken from the letters sent by the Islamic prophet Muhammad to various kings and rulers in which he urged them to convert to Islam.

/no way in hell

"lan astaslem" (Arabic: لن استسلم ) meaning "I will not surrender"

I absolutely agree, but must say that Islamic piracy is much older than the 18th and 19th centuries. Muslims started attacking Infidel ships as early as the 7th century. The mediterranean went from the Latin "Mare Nostrum" of the Romans to an almost empty area in the early middle ages. Now, there were other causes--Viking and other barbarian raids, but Islamic piracy was the prime reason that so many parts of the European coastline--so otherwise excellent for fishing and shipping--were in places completely abandoned. (There are many current historical accounts of this period that vaguely refer to Europe "turning northwards" or "turning to the land", without mentioning why.)

There were raids on ships all along the meditteranean, as well as raids on seaside villages in Italy, Spain, and Portugal--and even more distant places like France or England, the Netherlands, Ireland and even Iceland. There is a famous 18th century account by a Cornish cabin boy, Thomas Pellow, captured by Barbary pirates and sold into slavery in Morrocco.

Piracy was so feared in Europe that the cry of "Mami, il Turco!" (Mama, the Turks are coming!) became a general term of calamity, and "il Turco" was still used as a sort of "bogeyman" to caution Italian children long after the coast was safe from Islamic slave raids.

Muslims have always considered piracy on non-Jizya-paying Infidels to be entirely lawful, even laudable. That there is a resurgence of this sort of barbarism in the Red Sea doesn't surprise me. That there has been no consolidated attempt--not by Europe, or the US, or any other power--to end it, is appalling.

By the way, the estimable Giles Milton has a new book out, one I got just yesterday--"Paradise Lost" about the Turkish destruction of Smyrna in 1922.

it sounds like its time to arm the ships and there crews and teach these muslim pigs that piracy just gets you a burial at sea in pig skin

U.S. citizens pay high taxes to maintain a huge Navy. Let's use it. No need for new programs, studies, or permission from the U.N. High Seas Piracy has traditionally been punished harshly. Let's get busy. It's always ok to step on a roach.

Shiver me timbers -- if only we had Presidents these days made of similiar stuff.

Yarrrr maties make 'em patch up the both eyes and hobble about on two peg legs instead of one.

May these islamic pirates be relegated to their rightful place in history books near the innards of a 10 inch thick tome on the very top shelf in dark, dank, library basement near abouts where the toilet cleaning chemicals be.

Booty for now. Collecting Loonies for a death Cruse with a 1000 Lb. Buffet. When the time is ripe that is.

Does the Useless Nations allow us to confront the Pirates support network within the Country?

Pirates need Boats and Fuel. A little Navel Gunnery could address this issue.

Give them the Money, what ever they ask for. Just get the Crews out. Then start shooting.

I envision Predators drones lazily patrolling the waterways with their excellent vision and carrying a couple of Hellfire missiles looking for those small armed Mulsim attack boats.

Somewhere at a remote location in the control room a calm voice reports: "target acquired".
